FIRES.

The residence of Mr Williamson, teacher of the puWio sohool here, was destroyed by fite at five o'clook this morning, nothing being saved. The inmates and Mrs Williamson^ escaped in their night clothes. It was an old building, the property of the Education Board. The fire apparently originated in the kitchen. Mr Williamson's furniture was insured for £450, but lie loses £300 above that, including a valuable library
Wellington, April 17. Dymock'a bacon factory, Kniwarra, waa burned down this ereniog. The insurance was £800 in the New Zealand Ofiice, partly reinsured

The police have received information that a threshing mill, the property of Messrs Darling and Haggarts, and 150 bags and one stack of oats, thfproperty of Mr W. Robertson of Wangato,, were destroyed by fire at Kaitangata on Tuesday last. The mill waa insured, but to what amount or in what office is at present unknown. The total amount of the damage is estimated at £370.
