Auckland, February 17.
Tbe hospital inquiry was continued to-day, when Dr Collins was cross-examined. One of the commissioners (Mr Yon Mirbsch) having expressed an opinion tbat it waß most extraordinary that Dr Puilson, who was in active practice aud was consultant at the hospital, should? hold the position of coroner, Dr Philson, who give evidence to-day, asked Mr Mitbich by what authority he had stated that he held inquests on hs own cases. He (Dr Philson) whs not in active practice. Ho was in consulting practice, and held tbe offico of coroner by permission of the Government, who knew the position he occupied. He had never conducted inquests in cases in which he was concerned. Mr Rees objected to the witness asking the commissioner questions, and an altercation took place between the witness and Mr Reos, leading to Sir G. M. O'llorke threatening to dispense with Dr Pbil=on's Berviceß as a witness. After hearing evidence all day tho inquiry was adjourned till to-morrow. .
