A disastrous fire occurred at the Mutual Stores in Flinders street this morning, by which the premises wero completely gutted. The damage to the stock is estimated at £80,000, and to furniture £7000. The building cost over i £17.000. The ntock was a splendid one, showing great variety, snd will take a long time to replace. The building was insured for £21,000 and the stock for L 60.000 in the colonial offices, and £10,000 in tho London companies. Details are unknown, but 40 offiors aro concerned. Over 200 handß will be thrown out of employment.

The rißks of New Zealand offices are:— National, Equitable, and South British, £500 each ; New Zealand and Union, £1000 each.
