CITY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING.
A special meeting of tho City Council was held last night, when there were present—the Mayor (Mr J. Roberts), Crs Kimbell, Haynes, Hardy, Swan, Cohen, Solomon, Sinclair, and Carroll.
Cr Cakboll moved—" That it be resolved by way of special resolution to operate as a special order that the draft now before the council of a general bye-law repealing the existing byelaws of the City Corporation of Dunedin, and enacting in their place similar and other provisions for the goodwill and government of the city of Dunedin be adopted and made as a byelaw, to be hereafter known as bye-law No. 1; and that it be further resolved and declared that the said bye-law shall come into force on the 15th of Ootober 1890."
Cr Kimbbll seconded the motion, which was oarried.
Cr Cohen moved—" That it be resolved by way of special resolution to operate as a special order that the draft now before the oouncil of the tramways bye-law be adopted and made as a bye-law, to be hereafter known as the tramways bye-law; and, further, that the said bye-law Bhall come into force on the Ist day of January 1891."
The motion was eoconded by Cr Sinclair, andoarried.
It was also resolved that a special meeting of the 3) cil be held on the 6th of October to confirm the above resolutions.
