Gisbobne, September 3.

A largely-attended meeting of employers was fejld this afternoon—the principal runholders and chief business men being present. A resolution was unanimously carried—" That the.meeting views witti regret the present labour strikes, and that those present bind themselves to take -whatever steps may be considered necessary to ■conserve the perfect freedom of both employers ■and employes." A strong 'committee was Stormed to give effect to the resolution. Napiee, September 3.

There will be plenty of non-union labour to ■work the Australia's cargo. If the carters are called out, as is expected, country teams will curry the goods. Mr Creagh has written to employers requesting them not to let their employes work on the wharves, but the request has been refused. Nelson, September 3.

•JThB Anchor line steamer Charles Edward arrired from the West Coast this evening with ia nuKber of through passengers, including the Jate unionist crew of the s.s. Mahinapua. Calder (Presbyterian), and Eev F. W. Isitt (Wesleyan) each delivered addresses and took part in the services, the Revs. J. P. Kempthorne and F. W. Cbatterton (Anglican} also assisting io the Litany and prayers. True charity, love, and unity were ■urged, while hopes were expressed that tho present tribulation would lead to less selfishness and . greater consideration one for another. Invebcaegill, September 3. As non-union labour was not used for the Te .'Anau at the Bluff the lumpers abstained from 'boycotting, and are now engaged in loading the Jstar of Victoria.
