MEETING OF EMPLOYERS.
A well attended meeting of employers of labour was held in the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon, when representatives of every trade and manufacture were present. After considerable discussion it was unanimously decided to form an association to be called the New Zealand Employers' Association the object of which was to secure to its members all the advantages of unanimity of action now enjoyed by the various trade unions, and a strong committee was appointed to carry out this resolution.
The following resolution was referred to tha the committee:—"Tha* with a view to the peaceful adjustment of differences which may from timo to time arise between employers and employes, there should be formed unions of employers in each industry in the colony, and an employers' association for the whole colony, the council of which and n similar council representing labour should together form a final court of appeal to determine all questions which the trade and employers' unions have failed to settle ; the decision of such body to be final."
