TEMPERANCE CLIPPINGS. TO THE EDITOR.

Sic, —Your admirable column of Temperance Clippings, in thi3 morning's Time?, will have proved most refreshing reading to a very large circle of your subscribers, May we, Sir, iudulge the hope t sat we may be as regularly treated to such a column at least every Saturday as wo are to the trenchant and racy columns by " Oivis." The material prosperity of this country, to be lasting, must bo reared upon a moral basis; and if the press, which has hitherto unfortunately felt it a commercial necessity to devote so much of its valuable space to turf and other, gambling interests, will do at least as much for distinctly moral enterprises, not only will the bestinterests of society be immensely promoted, but commercially such a poiicy will bo much the reverse of disastrous. Assured that I express not merely my own, but the thanks of very many for this morning's indication, of a most welcome new departure,—l am, &<;., St. Olair, May 31. Edward Walkeb.
