c A meetliif; of the New Zealand Bowling Association was held at the Grand Hotel lust Might. Mr Carlton (president) ocouplcd the chair, and the following gentlemen were also present: —Messrs W. Dawson, F. Siedeberg, J. ]!o3», M. Sinclair, G. B. Smith, C. Greenslade, J. Barron, B. Hi'Kg, T. Young, A. Matbeaon, W. Dnvies, iun., It. H. Leary. J.Hislop.K. C. Churton.P Duncau, U.Wilson, juu., J. b'coular, John Wedderspoon. T. Moodia, Geoige Capstiek (secretary), and Captain Lloyd. Mr A. Barron.secretarvof the Wellington Bowling Club, wroto acknowledging tho ree.-ipt of a circular Intimating that tho Victorian team's trophy would be played for on the 4th of April, and stating that his committee desired him to lay that it was quite impo.sibie for them to find a rink to go to Dunedin again tin's season, atid as ilr Jloss, on behalf of (he otlier Northern clubs, bad protested against the deoisionof the asrociation, his club joined in the protest, and bad instructed thalr representatives accordingly. The committee of tbe Wellington Club trusted that the association would teconsider their decision, and postpone tho match until next year at Chris! chuicli. Protests against tho decision of the association were also received from the Phosuix, the Duuedin, Timnru. Auckland, and New Plymouth clubs. Mr John Gibson wrote stating that the Lawrence Club were of opinion that the Victorian and mayor's trophies should be played for at Easter as decided by tbeassociatiou. Mr Youno moved that the motion passed at the last meeting to play for the Victorian trophy at Easter on the Dunedin green be rescinded. Thin provoked a lengthy discussion, in the coureo of which the Chairman stated that more than half of tbe opposition to tho resolution bad emanated from tho Uuncdin Club. This statement wai takeu exoentlon to by Mr Loary (Green Island), Mr Churtcn (Tr.ieri), and a number of other deiegst.s. Mr Young's motion was eventually carried by 12 votes to 10. Jhe Chairmanotated that the trophy would now fall tbrouj-b, and tbe funds would be'n-taiued by the association to be dealt with afterwards. Tho conditions To.- the Easter rink matches to be played on Good Fiiday were agreed to. Tbe first prizes will bo lour exhibition gold medals of ihe value of £10, presented by Mr John Koberts, president of the exhibition, and is to be open to all Otago clubs affiliated to the association; r.nd the second prizes four silver medals, presented by tho association. Kaoh c!ub will be allowed to nominate one rlnkonlvon payment of ss; entries to close on the 31st. The match is to be played on the Dunedin green. The Secretary of the Miiton Bowling Club wrote stating that be was instructed by the committee of the club to claim a bye in the association metial match on the grounds Mint they had tried to meet tha Dnnedin Club twice on tha Tnierl green nnd ones on the Dunedin green, but without success.— It was decided in accordance with rw'e 13 that the match Bhould be playtd on the Taieri green on Saturday, April 5. Mr Peter Dow ma appointed a delegate to represent the Naseby Club in plscaof Mr A. Mathcson, resigned. The Treasurer stated that there wa3 a credit balance to the association last yer.r oi £i. Tha total receipts up to date amounted to £IS3 8s sd, from which bo deducted £10 103 for the Northern trophy, al»o £10 10s, the amount subscribed towards tbe Victorian team's trophy, leaving the total receipts of the association at £18J ISs 3d.' The expenditure np to date was £i' 23 17s 6d, leaving a credit balance in the bank of £39 13s lid. The meeting then terminated.
