! A special meeting of the Board of Education was held on the sth inst. Present — Messrs Olarlc (chairman), J. M'Uregor, John M'Keiizie, J. Greei:, J. W. Jago, nud the Hon. T. Dick. Tlie object of tbo meeting was to receive the ballot papers sent in by the various school committees for the election of three members of cho boar J. The retiring members were Messrs Hislop, Ureun, and b'niton, ell of whom stood for re-election, and the other candidates wore Messrs William Hutchison, Jamos Oaffiu, Q. M. Barr, and Dr Slenhouse. Circulars were sent to 189 committees, most of whom returned the papfrs with the names of Ihe selected candidates filled in. These nomination papers were placed in a ballot box, which was opened by the chairman whou (lie board met yesterday.
