HAWKSBURY DOMAIN. TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,—l crave sp^ce in your columns with the viow of drawing the attention of the authorities that be to an anomaly, or what-raiglit bo termed an abuse of powfr and waste of public money that has been going on for a number of years, aud is likaly to be excelled in future. I refer to the Hav.ksbnry Domain Board, who have expended the rura of JS.'OCO since their existence to gratify their fads, fallacies, and fancies, the turn named having been absolutely thrown away on a lagoon. Tho sooner there han inquiry into tlio matter tlio better, to Hsccrtr.in what assets the board have to show for money expended, and wii.li tho viow of this hoard having to obtain in future tome responsible official sanction before a further anticipated waste is incurred.
The latest move on ths part of some of nur local wirepullers v.a« to secure the influence of our M.H.K , Mr Joiiu M'Kenzle, to alienate a reserve from a number of poor struggling families to this Domain Board. To complete tho legerdemain, we have hsd appointed to this board three members of our local Jockey Club who are about to appropriate tho funds of the b-nid Ly runu a racecourse, wiiiitya'nithy ditch on the doms.iu is to bo left to pollute the atmosphero caused by the decaying vege'.ab'e matter therein, with the addition ot all the spare feline aud canine tribe, to supplement the already unbearable smell which ia causing a ?reat amount o»' sickness here. At present, it appears that horseraoing hof more importance than i ha health of tho Inhabitants, or Ereo planting which aro the proper functions of a Domain Board.—l am, &c.,
