MEDICAL ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Medical Annooiai ion wan resumed yesterday in tha Town Hall Buildings. Present—Dr Hocken (president), Drs GolemaD, Hacon, Cressey, WhUton, Lewis, Purchas, Batchelor, Maunscll, Brown, Colquhoun, Christie, Will, Copland, De Zouche Syme, Lindo Ferguson, Morten, Yon Mirebach, and G. Macdonald. Dr Hacon read a paper, in which he made reference to the very fewest moHtm examinations made in the asylums of the colony and the tendency of the authorities to check any progress id that direction. He condemned the parsimony ol the Government in not allowing the superintendents of the principal asylums to have medical assistants, and animadverted on the appomtinent of medical superintendents who have no practical training iv the care and treatment ot the insane. He concluded by exorting the association to bring the injustice? of both the patients and superintendents under the notice of the Government.

Remarks on Dr Haeou's paper were made by several members, all agreeing with the burden ot the opinions expressed iv tho paper. It was ultimately decided to appoint two members as a committee to draw up a series of resolutions to lie brought before the association on the following day, to be adopted and forwarded to the Government.

The discussion on the Medical Bill was postponed till next uight.
