A SUGGESTION.

TO THE EDITOB.

gin, During tbis sumoier, would it not be a Christianliko action on the part of our citizenß to give a treat to the orphans aod poor people of Danedin, in the shape of a visit to our exhibition '< There are great numbers in our city who absolutely cannot afford to pay for entrance, and if it \i, as I believe it is, the custom of the people of other countries on similar occasions to provide such a treat, surely Dunedinites will form no exception to the rale. It may be argued that it will be a difficult task to decide who are the deserviug poor in a case of this sort; but the difficulty may be overcome by lotting the admis sion be by ticket, the tickets to be placed in the hands of our various friendly societies or ministers for distribution. If we Dunedinites who are so noted for our humanity show enough interest in the movement, I think the Exhibition Commissioners would make an effort to set aside a day for the poor shortly before the closing of the exhibition. Hoping to find sympathy in this movement, —I am, &c., December 14. CjiamtAblb.
