THE DISCREDITED ATHLETIC EVANGELIST.
A CONFESSION. ■ . (Pbb United Pbess1 Association.) . . . Wanoandi, October 23. Arthur Clampett, alias Sullivan, has furnished the Chronicle with what amounts to a written confession that his real name is Clampett; and that recently he gave way to drink in Christchurch. He gives a history of his career under the name of Sullivan, stathjg that he began evangelistic work in. Auckland. Owing to the attacks of the press while in Christchurch and the hard work of the mission, he broke down, and subsequently foil into his old habit of drink and forgot himself, though he had only a week previously^ addressed a monster temperance meeting. This was the only time, he says, since his conversion that he has tasted drink. He asserts that his one object since his conversion has been to do. good and win others to lead better lives. In conclusion Clampett flays, taking everything into consideration, it is his present intention to proceed on a lecturing tour, including, among other items, singing and subjects connected with athletics. '
