THE WEST COAST WONDER.

TO THE EDITOE,

Sib,—Mr Moreton says that he is not going to write any more on Mr Burton. "What, never!" Well, I congratulate him. Had he gone "one better," and declared that he would never again enter the literary arena but confine his talents to the artistic, I would have commended him still more. Of course Ido not for a moment conclude that on account of his inability to continue a bad case, had I so thought, I would then have admired his sagacity, or, shair I say, that discretion which some prefer to valour. May I tender him just a word of advice at this point, which is that he ought not to allow anyone to persuade him to reappear under a nonide plume. Mr Moreton, artist, counsels me, in effect, to mind my own business. Just so. An independent and unbiased opinion is evidently obnoxious to such as he. He contends that because I know neither party, therefore I cannot judge. There is a reductio ad aisurdun if you- like. Might I ask in this connection if he were following the advice he tenders when he cut the painter of the canoe and went out of his way to writo to Sutherland in order to prevent another artist from reaching the falls—and succeeded. Oh, jealousy, what crimes you are responsible for!—-I am, &0., " October 15. Good Feeling.
