AN'INSUSANCE ACTION.
(Pbb United Press Associatiob.) Wellington, September 26. Judgment has been entered up in the Supreme Oourt against the Britith and Colonial Property, Finance, and Assurance Company, Limited, at the suit of the Phcenix Insurance Society, of London, for £356 Is lOd, amount of reinsurance of the stock of Mrs Walker, milliner, whose premises were gutted by firo on the 4th of July last, and the added costs of the action. A writ was served on the defendant company about a fortnight ago for its proportion of the loss, amounting to £342 3s 10d, and as no defence was filed within the required time judgment went in due course. The defendant company has its headquarters in Melbourne, and is quite a young institution. It was incorporated on the 23rd of April, 1888, and commenced its New Zealand business in April, 1889. Memorial of judgment has been taken out under the seal of the court for the purpose of enforcing judgment in Vietoria.
