ANGLICAN DIOCESAN SYNODS.

(Peb United Peess Association.) Cheistchdech, September 20. The Diocesan Synod]held a special meeting today for the election of a bishop. Dean Jacobs made a long speech, principally on the method of election. At the evening sitting the president intimated that the public and press will be excluded from the discussion. The clergy and laity separated to-night to discuss'the question, but'arrived at no decision. The only person nominated at present is the Venerable Churchill Julius, Archdeacon of Ballarat. Welmnoton, September 26. At the meeting of the Anglican Synod last evening, Mr C. Rous Martin moved—" That this synod approves the principle of the Private Schools Bill, introduced during last session of the New Zealand Parliament by the member for Dunstan." The motion was supported by Bishop Hadfield (Primate-elect), Rev. A. Twogood, Rev. H. B. Harvey, Rev. T. L. Tudor, and others, and carried unanimously.
