Dingadee arrived early from Weatport. Oamarn—Arawata arrived early from Lyttelton; Bails to-night for Auckland direct. Lyttelton—Wanaka arrived 10.40 a.m. from Wellington ; returns lv p.m. Lindus sails 6 p.m. foe Sydney. Wellington-Jlanapouri sailed 3 p.m. for Lyttelton. Nelson—Koranui arrived 7 a.m from Wellington; sailed 8 a.m. for Greymouth. Weatport—Moa sailed 1 p.m. for Wellington; Mahlnapua sailed 9 a.m. for Lyttelton. The s.s. Ohau left Dunedin yesterday evening for Greymouth direct. . ' - The Union Steam Ship Company's new steamer from Calcutta, arrived at Wellington a (P*]j.'.a.m. on Saturday. She is to leave there n, .w»for Lyttelton, and is expected to reach Dunedln i^Thureday or Friday. The s.sw.Kakanui, with a cargo of timber from Fortroae, arrived-&t Dunedin at 4.30 a.m. yesterday. She left Kortrose at noon on Sunday, and had N.W. winds with fine weather along the ooast. The s.s. Penguin left the Battray street wharf yesterday afternoon with cargo and passengers for Northern ports. The barque Nanny has put out nearly 200 tons of cargo at the Battray street wharf; it is turning out in splendid order. Ths schooner Awarua left the Jetty street wharf yesterday morning with cargo for Invercargill. The Bhip Nelson is meeting with quick despatch at the cross wharf. She has put out 1000 tons of general cargo (in splendid order), and will take in ballast about Friday. The Nelson goes from this port to Wellington, and there loads for London. The s.s. Whampoa put out the last of her inward cargo yesterday, and took in freight for Hongkong. She leaves the Vietorla wharf this afternoon for Wellington, and there fills up for Hongkong. The s.s. Invercargill loaded cargo at the Rattray •treet wharf yesterday. She leaves this afternoon for Invercargill. During the week ending Bth September 15 vessels, registering 6944 tons, arrived at the Dunedin wharv«s ; and 11 vessels, with a total of 3918 tons, left them. The agitation against foreigners in the forecastles of British ships continues in the old country. At a meeting of the Middlesborough branch of the National Amalgamated Union of Seamen, it was unanimously agreed that five members (all foreigners) be expelled from the union for signing articles on a vessel at 5s a month below the union rate of wages. A petition for presentation to Parliament was adopted by the branch disapproving of the importation of foreign seamen, and praying that steps should be taken to prevent the influx of foreigners into the mercantile marine of the country. It was also resolved that all seamen should be requested not to join the naval reserve, and that those who were associated with it, and whose time had nearly expired, be requested not to rejoin until the Government had taken some steps to prevent the Introduction of foreigners. The Perpetual Trustees Company offered at auction yesterday the freehold of part of section 1, block XXV, Dunedin, having afrontege to Dowling street of 41ft 3in by a depth of 132 ft. The buildings on the ground comprise Toomey's Shades, a number of offices, and part of Union Chambers. The property was passed in at £3000, not reaching the reserve. Messrs James Samson and Co. report having sold to Mr F. Middleton allotments 100 and 104, township of Mansford, near Port Chalmers, for the sum of £27; also section 29, township of Darley (Caversham), passed iv to the trustee for the mortgagees at £160.
