THE CAPPING CEREMONY.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sih, —I must object to being held up before your readers as requesting tho chairman to apologise for my abscnco from tho graduation ceremony. My note in reply to his invitation was of the nature oE an explanation—not of au apology— and was to the following effect: — " Dear Dr Fitehelt, —I have to thank you for your invitation to a seat on the platform. I regret, however, that being under a vote of eensuro by the Otago University Council, I cannot accept your kind invitation. —I ntn, &c, James G. Black." Of course it would not do to exhibit a censured professor on the platform on so high and august an occasion as the imposing graduation ceremony of the New Zealand University.—l am, &c, August 30. James G, Black.
