The annual -report o£ the Benevolent Asylum discloses a shocking state oE immorality. It shows that over 700 illegitimate births arc registered annually, and that last year 44 children were abandoned.

FRANCE AND THE NEW HEBRIDES.

Replying to a question in the House -of Assembly, Sir Henry Parkes said Government 'were not in possession of any information respecting French action in the New Hebrides.
