The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,000,608 quarters, and for the Continent 348,000 quarters. The American visible supply is 28,875,000 bushels.

A number of highwaymen attacked an army treasury escort in Arizona. Five of the escort were wounded, three of them fatally; The robbers decamped with 30,000 dollars of booty.

FIGHTING IN SUMATRA.
In an encounter between the Dutch and the natives of Acheen, in Sumatra, 30 of the former were killed or wounded. The Acheenese attacked the garrison of Edi. The encounter was sharp at the first, but the garrison eventually defeated the enemy, of whom 160 were killed.
WORKMEN'S DWELLINGS,
The Austrian Government is exempting new workmen's dwellings built on modern approved principles from taxation for 24 years.
