OUR VOLUNTEERS.
The North Dunedin Rifles paraded at tho drill hall, Water of Leith, on Wednesday evening, for Government inspection. The following was the attendance:—Captain M'Nab, Lieutenants Myers and Johnston, 1 colour-sergeant 3 sergeants, and 33 rank and file; total, 40. After inspection the corps was inarched out under command of Lieutenant Myers. On returning to the hall 10 new members were sworn in, and three candidates proposed for election The first general meeting of the oompany under" the new volunteer regulations was then held Ihe various reports were read and adopted, the balance sheet showing a sound financial position, a satisfactory balance remaining to the credit of the corps. The election of the office-bearers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with, and resulted as follows :-Secretary, Sergeant Crawfurd ; treasurer, Sergeant Fredrio; Finance Committee—the officers, Colour-sergeant Slowley, and Sergeant Fredric; Geueral Management Committee—theofficers, Corporals M'Millan and Brown, Volunteers W. Black, Peebles, and Pollock ; auditors, Corporal Gebbie cud Volunteer W. Kqox. A vote of thanks to the chair ended the meeting.
