The s.s. Wareatea, Captain Lambert, with a cargo of coal from Westport, arrived alongside the Bowen pier early yesterday morning, and commenced to discharge her cargo into the hulks. She left Westport at 10 p m. of the Ist inst., had moderate winds ■with fine weather until she breasted Banks Penineulaat s p.m. of the 3rd, when she encountered a heavy S.W. gale, with high seas which continued to arrival.

The B.s.sManapouri,;Captain Logan, from Sydney, via Auckland and Bast Coast ports, arrived alongside the Bowen pier at 7.15 a.m. yesterday. Mr Hudson (her purser) reports leaving Sydney on the 22ndult., and arrived at Auckland on the 26th, after a smart run of four days, remaining there uutil the 29th, when she left for the South, called at Gisborne on the 30th, and reached Napier on the morning of the Ist Inst.; leaving again same afternoun, arrived at Wellington on the 2nd, and left again for Lyttelton on the afternoon of the 3rd, arriving at that port on the morning of the 4th; sailed again for headquarters at 1.15 p.m. same day, arriving as above. She experienced fine weather from Sydney to Lyttelton, and from that port fresh southerly winds. The ship Auckland, from Melbourne, will not load at this port. On her arrival at the heads Captain Jame3 will receive orders to proceed to Napier. The schooner Isabella Anderson, with cargo for Hokitikn, sailed down to Port Chalmers on Tuesday evening,, and after taking in a quantity of combustibles sailed later on for the West Coa6t.

The s.s. Grafton, Captain Nordstrum, from West Coast ports, arrived at the Battray street wharf at 5 a.m. yesterday. She left Weatport on November 3\ and called at Nelson, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Timaru; left the latter port at 5 p.m. of the 4th inst,, and reached head quarters aa above. She experienced strong northerly breeze and heavy beam sea unMl she cleared the French Pass, followed by light variable winds with moderate seas until she breasted Akaroa Heads, thence she met a strong N.E. gale with a heavy beam sea until she reached Timaru; the rest of the passage was marked by light southerly winds. We thank Mr Martin (purser) for report, &c. The barquantine Penpont put out the last of her Dunedin cargo yesterday afternoon. The ship Canterbury unbent sails yesterday. The barquentine Yolande commenced discharging cargo at the Rattray street wharf yesterday. The barque Natal Queen is loading at the Rattray street wharf for Auckland.

The s.s. Rotomahana left the Victoria wharf yesterday afternoon for Auckland, via Bast Coast ports. The e.s. Manapouri steamed up to Dunedin yeßterday afternoon, and landed cargo at the Rattray street wharf.

Captain Watt, of the barquentine Yolande, informs us that a French schooner, the Heine dcs Isles, was at Long Island when he left. The Heine dcs Isle 3 la,commanded by Captain Flinn, and her owner (Mr Meadojvs, of New Caledonia) was also on board. She w&3 under charter to the Chesterfield Island Guano Company to carry coolie labour to the group, and had arrived in a leaky condition. It was found necessary to haul her up in order to get at the leak, which was in the heel of her, and Captain Watt Bupplied her with water and provisions and two spare iron fly wheel pumps. During the passage of the Clyde barque Hannah Landles from Norway to Melbourne, an able seaman named Nelson, who wa3 engaged in setting up the head gear, missed bis hold and fell into the sea. There was a fresh northerly breeze at the time, the vessel going eight kaotß, and there was a nasty sea from S.W. Lifebuoys were thrown towards him, and one of these fortunately he managed to secure.

The barque wa9 rounded to and the starboard lifeboat lowered, but the sea caught it and smashed it against the ship's side. A Becond boat was speedily put over, and the crew exerted themselves to some purpose, and were successful in rescuing their messmate. He was half an hour in the water, but apparently did not suffer from the accident, for he helped to pull an oar and assisted in hoisting the boat in again. It ia (says the ArgUß) a pure pleasure to have to note the saving of this life, for the record in too many instances is altogether the other way.
