OUR VOLUNTEERS.
A detachment of the Dunediu Engineer Corps mustered for field practice on Saturday afternoon at Pelitshet Bay on some land kindly placed at their disposal by Mr Allan Holmes. The practice consisted of sotting out various lines of work and angles, also measuring of inaccessible distances by triangulation. Some of the signalling staff of the corps also went through some practice. After working for about two hours the meu adjourned to tea before dismissing. The next monthly practico is in field telegraph construction, and these various practices are always the subject of a lecture given the week before by an officer of the corps.
