. <a- • ' A special meeting of the Port Chalmers j 1 Borough Council was held on Monday evening f ' last, for the purposo of revising the estimates of i 1 the proposed income and expenditure for the J year ending March 31st 18S9. , Present: His ( 1 Worship the Mayor (Mr E. G. Allen), Councillors Schumacher, Reid, Millar, De Maus, Put- , ' uam, Murray, M'Kcnzie, Cook, and Watson. ( Correspondence was read fram the Auditor- , ' general, informing the council that it would be ' necessary to strike a special rate for a sinking . * fund for the reduction of the corporation loans, ■ 1 and after deliberation it was resolved that two ; ' rates—viz., a special and general be struck; and s new estimates were framed as follows: —
y It was also resolved to coufirm the estimates *> at the regular meeting on April IG. 1- LIGHTING TUX TOWN. :1- Tenders were received from Messrs Thomson 'd Bros, for lighting gas lamps for six months-at >r 15s per lamp per month; and from Mr 1. Hodge i- for lighting nine kerosene lamps for six months >d a t £4 2i 4il per lamp. Both tenders were ;l' accepted.
