Auckland, September 17. A singular fatal accident occurred at HobsonvilV. t<i a two-year-old child, the daughter of G. A. l-'i..-ld. The child was discovered hanging and quite dead shortly afterwards. Tlu-Auckland tobacconists mot yesterday, and approved of suggestions by the Wellington tradesmen re licenses. A syndicate have engaged an experienced miner to go to Fiji to prospect for gold and other minerals.
Wellington-, September 17. At the request of the Premier of Victoria all the Australian Governments and Government of New Zealand hay« consented to observe the 20th January as an Australasian holiday iv commemoration of the Australian centenary.
