IMPORTANT SALE OF DRAUGHT HORSES.

Whisht, Stephunson, and Co. (in conjunction with Messrs Heming and Hedley) by instructions of Mr Edward Menlovo, held a large sale of draught horses, at the Windsor Park estate, near Oamaru on Friday last, 13th inst. The sale brought together a very large number of buyers, who competed spiritedly for every lot, aud, taking into account the present state of things in this and the adjoining colonies, very fair prices were obtained. About 50 horses changed hands at from £15 to £35—average £2115s per head.

Mr W. Qcin-, Tapanui, reports having gold (in conjunction with Mr D. Stror.ach, for the N.Z.L. and M.A. Com) any, Limited) by auction and privately, 1733 acres of the well-known Merino Downs estate, Tapanui. at prices ranging from 35s to 57s 6d per acre. The total value of tho ,land sold is £1276. and it is anticipated that further private sales will be effected.
