THE SEAWARD BUSH RAILWAY.
*v. J2?°^e was held afc Invercargill on the «th May of delegates from the committees formed in the district traversed by the proposed Seaward Bush railway to promote its completion to Fortrose. The attendance of country delegates was large. Resolutions tor submission to tbe Government were passed urging the Minister of Railways to complete the' line as far as formed, and proceed with the extension as soon as possible, and pointing ont the desirableness of carrying the line across the Mataura river, thus opening a market for produce to the fertile district on the south coast of Otago; also calling.the attention of the Government to the fact that 17,500 acres of land was set aside pending the construction of the line and that m the event of the Government being unable to carry the line across the Mataura with loan funds they be requested to consider the propriety of doing so under the land grant system.
