WEST HARBOUR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the West Harbour Council was held lasfc night. Present .-—The Ma/or (Mr W. M. Hodgkins), and Crs Ross, M'Millan, Barclay, Walker, C. W. George, Bain, Bennet, Albery, and Wise.

A letter was read from Mr Charles R. Chapman asking if Ravensbourne would assist in maintaining a free library in Dunedin.— Received. ■ •>

With regard to a circular letter from the Auckland City Council relative to a colonial municipal association to watch over the interests of municipal associations, it was decided thafc as Mr Mills, M.H.R., was the member for the district, he be asked to represent the borough at the first meeting of the association, to be held iv Wellington.

In connection with the inspector's report, it was resolved that the main road, St. Leonards ward, should be metalled, and the metalling should be done in Hill street, from Athol place to Water street.
