FIRE AT WELLINGTON.

Wellington, May 17,

The residence of Mr W. B.Edwards (solicitor), containing 10 rooms, situated afc Island Bayj was totally destroyed by fire, together with the outhouses, at 1.30 this afternoon. The fire originated in an upstairs room, and the cause is unknown. A. piano and some small articles of furniture were saved. The insurances are:— Building, Now Zealand offiae, £1450 (reinsured in the iSouth British, £67f>) ; furniture, £1000, in the South British (reinsured in the Colonial, National, and Standard Offices, £100 each).
