Last night Messrs Ewington and Stevenson visiting justices to the Lunatic Asylum at" Whau, met there for the purpose of inquiring; into certain specific allegations of neglecting ai patient, which had Dccii made by certain attendants. The proccediugs of course; were private, and the justices declined to give information of what.transpired. Dr Cremouini was present at the formal inquiry that took place, and thefour* attendants who made the complaint were examined upon oath wi»h reference to treatment of M'Garry. Two of the attendants said they' considered the man M'Garry had been neglected, and one gave it as his opinion that Dr Cremo-^ nini was not always compos mentis himself. Dr Crenionini empLatically denied' that the patient had been neglected in auy way, and said that it swas the duty of the head attendant to see that no patient suffered for want of food.
