TO THE EDITOB.

Sin,—The danger of rushing into burning buildings to save other people's property should prove a caution to disinterested people. Your readers will perhaps remember that several were injured besides the four who were killed. One man got his arm nearly severed, and will probably lose the use of his fingprs for the remainder of his life. I understand on good authority that this man has not only lost his billet for his pains, but that he has no claim on anyone for damages, and that he has even got to pay his own doctor. Considering the amount of goods saved, I think that he should at least get some remuneration for the services he rendered. Hoping that this case will be seen into,—l am, &c,
