THE MAYORAL ELECTION.

. TO THE EDITOR. Bin,—ln reply to Mr B.lsaac's and Councillor Fish's letters, the former is hardly worthy of a reply, and as he now acknowledges the truth of " A Hearer's" letter as well as my own as to what Councillor Carroll said, I leave the public to judge of the correct meaning of the sentence and not the aged eye of one who was desirous of seeing once more in print what he thought was one of his good actions. lam quite willing to give him all tho credit that is due to him—that as one of the committee he served the citizens well in this matter. If Councillor Fish is not a bitter opponent of Councillor Carroll I thiuk the latter will not have any opponents at all as weighed by their actions. Councillor Fish's letter bristles with innuendoes and charges throughout that would be likely to injure an opponent. Why did he not confess that he had made a mistake when saying that Councillor Carroll was not on the Finance Committee that year, when his 00-worker Mr B. Isaac acknowledges it in tho extract from the minutes he attaches to his last letter? I am sorry to hear that some of the members of Mr Leary's committee give Mr Fish so muoh of the cold shoulder that he does not feel comfortable in their company. But I do know that he is canvassing most energetically in that gentleman's interest. Mr Fish's reference to the gns engineer having given vouchers twice oyer hai nothing at all to do with the election ; but before making so serious a charge against a responsible civic servant, would it not have been fairer to have satisfied himself of the truth of that statement ?—I am, &c,, Wm. WoODJ/iKD. Noveipbej 16.
