FIRES.

Christchuhch, August 2G.

A five-roomed house at Avonside, belongs ing to Mrs Hebe King, was burned down to-night. The building and furniture, which were completely destroyed, were insured for £240 in the Colonial office. The cause of the fire is not known. Ashbdrton, August 26. A seven-roomed house belonging to Mr Nicholson was destroyed by fire this morning. It was insured for £180 in the Liverpool and London and Globe. Oamaru, August 26. A house, shop, and bakehouse, the property of W. Smyth, were destroyed by fire this morning. The insurances were £250 in the Colonial office and £275 in the Australian Mercantile Marine.
