Mr Mitchelson, M.H.R., was thrown from his buggy while riding to town, and badly shaken and bruised, but sustained no serious injury.

An inquest was held this afternoon before Mr J. S. Beswick, coroner, and a jury of six, of whicli Mr G. Green was foreman, on the body of Edward Mewburn. A verdict was returned of " Accidental death." Dr Love-

grove showed, as tho result of njiost mortem, that deceased must have fallen from the dray, the wheel of wliich passed over the body, smashing three ribs and severing the liver. Death must have been'instantaneous.

An accident occurred this morning on the racecourse to a man named Flockton, in the employ of Messrs M. and C. Hobbs. Flockton was exercising the horse Melville, when he was thrown and his left leg broken. The sufferer was conveyed to the hospital and the limb set by Dr Drew.
