RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Monday, August 9. ("Before Mr E. H. Carew, R.M.)
Judgment was given for plaintiffs, with costs, in the following undefended cases:—M. Joel v. S. AY. Wilson, claim £53 13s, on a bill of exchange (Mr Joel appeared for the plaintiff); J. Wright v. D. Ross, £18 10s, on a promissory note (Mr Wilkinson appeared for the plaintiff). D. M'Farlane v. H. Skey.—Claim £7 9s, for work done. —Mr Kettle appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Sim for the defendant. —In this case the claim was made under section 9 of the Workmen's Wages Act. Prom tho evidence it appeared that there was no money in Mr Skey's hands out of which to pay tho claim.— Judgment was according given for the defendant.
W. J. Pellett v. A. Lawton.—Claim £~f or board and lodging.—Mr Kettle appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Fitchett for the defendant. — Judgment was given for the amount claimed, with ccsts..
J. Gillies v. J. Wilson.—Claim £10 2s 4d, for goods supplied.—Mr Brent appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Hodgkins for tbe defendant.— Judgment was given for tho plaintiff, with costs.
E. Loft v. G. Wood.—ln this case the plaintiff sought to recover possession of a farm let to the defendant on a weekly tenancy ; and also ten weeks' rent at 6s per week, in addition to the mesne profits of the farm for two weeks; the total amount of the claim being £3. —Mr Denniston appeared for tho plaintiff, and Mr D. D. Maedonald for the defendant.—After evidence, his Worship reserved judgment until Wednesday. J. Gray v. J. Walker.—Claim £2 14s 2d, for meat supplied.—Mr Wilkinson appeared for the plaintiff, for whom judgment was given for the amount claimed, with costs.
