PORT CHALMERS SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The regular meeting of the Port Chalmers School Committee was held on Friday eveningPresent : Messrs V. G. Dowries (chairman), 0' do Longueville Graham, James M'Kay, Dr Drysdalu, and A. Thomson.
An application from Mr W. Leslie for the use of one of the schoolrooms for a drawing class was granted.—The Chairman stated that in accordance with the usual practice he had in conjunction with the rector granted the children a week's holiday on the termination of the cx 0 amlnations. In reference to Mr Oscar David's application to form a gymnastic class in couuectiun with the school, he was sorry that owing to insufficient support it could not be at present ba arranged. —A report from Sergeant Finnegan in reference to the noii-attendiinre uf children ar. tho t'Ciiuol was considered, and it was rcsol veil that Mr Weir, the secretary, .serve the statutory notice on all parents whose children fnil to attcm: — The report of the Visiting Committee for tin- pa it month was received and ai'opWd, aint it \v;<s revived '.hat the thanks of the committee be conveyed to Captain Cameron for his kiudiu'fs ill presenting swing ropes and clips for the playground.—A report on Dr Macjiefjor's ciranli.r 'in it-feruucc to the school curriculum,' which had been refeired to a sub-committee, was read by Dr Drvsclale and unanimously adapted.
