LAND BOARD.

Yesterday's meeting of the Land Board was attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), Bradshaw, Clark, M'Kenzie, Duncan, and Brown. NASEBY. -The Manager of the Naseby Pastoral Investment Company applied for a grazing right over the southern portion of Run 219, withheld from sale for settlement.—Referred to the chief commissioner. CJREEN ISLAXD. V. Hodder applied for a seven years" license, under section 220 of " The Land Act 1885," to take guauo from Greeu Island, at a rental of £5 per year.—A present licensee also appeared before the Board and objected to a license being granted, he having obtained the right to remove guano. He declined to make any arrangement with Hodder.—The Board decided not to take any t.etion regarding the matter in the meantime. KAWAHAU. W. J. Hamill wrote asking that 800 acres should be taken out of Run 345 a and opened in dfiferred-payinent allotments of from 100 acres to 200 acres each, in order that he might apply for a portion of the land.—-The application was declined. ulackstojte. Regarding the application of the Maniototo County Council that a road be taken through section 51, block IF, Biackstone, the lessee of the land having been communicated with, objectt.l to give up the land required for the road, but offered to surreuder the whole section on obtaining the cost of his improvements.—lt was resolved to recommend the county to apply to tho Government. RAXKLEBUCX. J. B!air asked that, the land at Ranklebuni which the Government had been recommended to open as a special settlement be dealt with at once in the manner proposed, in the interest of settlement.—lt was resolved to send a letter to the Government with a request that the previous resolution of the Board be given effect to. LATJDER. Sheep-inspector Johnstone forwarded a memo, from Inspector Bourchier suggesting that he be appointed Crown lands ranger in the district for which Blr Miles was recently ranger, with the view of regulating the depasturage of stock. Government to be recommended to make the appointment. EAST GORE. T. F. Corolau wrote asking the Board to reduce the upset price of suburban sections iv block XXV from £10 to £3 per acre.—Declined. STEATH-TAIERI. Louis Junge applied to have the rental of perpetual-lease section 20, block X, reduced from 2s 6d to Is per acre.—Consideration deferred pending a report. _ 'GOLD-JIIfUNG LEASES. Certificates of application for gold-mining leases were approved as follow:—Samuel Paddon and others, 10 acres at Nokomai ; Carmlle Malfrey, nine acres; A. M'Callum and others, 10 acres; S. Hunter and others, nine acres; all in the same district. SHOTOVEH. The applications of J. Cooper aud the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company for agricultural leases of section 80, block XIX, Shotover, and of section S, block I, Kawarau, respectively, were recommended for the Governor's approval. WEXDON.

The School Commissioners recommended that the upset price of deferred-payment sections in Wendon, Wendonside, and Greenvale vested m them should be reduced to 30s per acre.— Agreed to. WAKATIPU. Consideration of the application of Dewar and l'orbes for a grazing right over 2500 acres of the commonage adjoining their runs at Wakatipu was deferred. DAET. The application of J. C. Ferm to occupy sections 7 and 9 to 17, bush reserve, block 111, Dart, as a small grazing run was declined. WHITE SOW VALLEY. 1\ Reid applied for a reconsideration of his application to purchase 100 acres adjoining his land in White Sow Valley.— Approved, subject to runholder's consent being obtained. KOTICRS OF MOTION. Mr Brown gave notice of the following motions:—" That all Crown lands for sale or lease within the counties of Waitaki, Waikouaiti. Waihemo, Maniototo, Vincent, Tuapeka, Lakes, Southland, Clutha, Bruce, and Taieri, be advertised in the local newspapers of the district wherein such lands are situated."—" That in the land sales handbill circulated by the Board an accurate description, as near as possible, of each section or block be bracketed against each allotment or allotments." run 171e. It was resolved to recommend the Government to have the boundary line between two small grazing runs—subdivisions of Run 171e— surveyed, in order that a practicable fencing boundary may be laid off. MANIOTOTO.: A license was ordered to issue to J. Coram at JBS a year for section 4, block XV, Maniototo in place of £10 as resolved by the Board on April 7.
