Auckland, December 26. Ine Sandfly, from Tonga, brings the Rev Shirley Baker, Premier of Tonga: The description of the body of the mnrdered man found at Christchurch Hill, Waikato, tallies exactly with that of a man known as Jimmy Dunbar, who has been working for years on aud off in Hamilton. He was seen three months ago at the Waikato Hotel, when he said he was going down the river, and he has not been seen at Hamilton since. '
James Brown, aged 10, fell into the fire in a fit. His face was dreadfully burned, and his recovery, is hopeless.
Napier, December 27. Griffiths, who was injured in the coach accident, died in the hospital yesterday. A verdict of accidental death was returned at the inquest. The jury recommended a periodical inspection of coaches, as the accident was attributed to the fact that the leather was worn oif the brake.
Wellington-, December 26. The. weather to-day was fairly fine. The principal attractions were the Porirua races, where Grand Duke won the Cup from an indifferent field, and the Foresters' sports on the Basin Reserve. Crowds left town by train. The town has been very quiet. A five-roomed unoccupied house in Ghuznee street, belonging to Mr David, was destroyed by fij;e at 3 a.m. to-day.
Nelson, December 26. The weather has been glorious for the Christmas holidays. A good many excursionists visited Nelson, including about 400 from Wellington. The annual regatta was largely attended. There was a good breeze blowing. The second-class yacht race was taken by Mr Somraerville's Madge (Nelson), no first-class yachts competing. The senior four-oared outrigger race was a very exciting affair from almost the start. The Wakatu Club's Just-in-time won by three lengths, the Star Club's Comet seconcl and the Nelson Club's Wakatu third.
Christchurch, December 26 A mvii named 'Bond, a sailor, was killed on the Oran yesterday. He was caught by the flywheel of the electric light engine, and his body fearfully mangled.
A man named James Kinley was found dead at Kaiapoi last night. Auother human hand mystery has turned up. faome days ago a forearm and hand were found on the Tekoa station, Waiau. The police are searching for the other portions of the remains.
By a large tussock fire near Southbridge, Stewarts homestead, Westerton's farm buildings, and Washburn's stables and general plantations were destroyed. ' It is believed that none of the buildings burned were insured. The cause has not been ascertained.
, .. , „ , , December 27. A cottage at Sydenham, owned and occupied by Michael M'Ewau, a coal dealer, was burned last night. Bl'Ewau was out at the time. The cause of the fire is not known.
