THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
Owing to the small supplies arriving from the Colonies, the tone of the market is stronger and prices are better maintained. The Garonne's cargo has arrived in excellent condition and is selling freely—the Melbourne portion at from 4sd-tp 5Jd, and the Sydney at 4id per lb. The Orient's cargo, also from Melbourne, is selling at sd. The Tainui's consignment from New Zealand is selling at 5d for mutton, 7d to 8d for lamb, and 3d to sjd for beef. The Canterbury's cargo is nearly cleared.,- The mutton is selling latterly at ofd per lb, and the lamb at B|d. The Doric's cargo, also from New Zealand, is realising s£d for mutton, 8d for lamb, and sjd for beef. The Ruapehu's damaged cargo is nearly disposed of. The sound portion is selling up to sjd. River Plate meat is realising 4|d. Durin" last month 1031 cwt of beef was received from New Zealand, and 33,408ewt of mutton.—Anglo-New Zealander, June 19.
