A GRIEVANCE TO THE EDITOR.
Sin,—-I wish to. bring before you a matter which has been long neglected by the City Council— namely, the hawking of meat in carts, which is rapidly destroying the trade of small shopkeepers. It is impossible for persons to continue paying rent while brought into competition with these vendors, many of whom escape taxation altogether, not to speak of the advantages of weighing by spring balances compared with scales. ■ , ' Let the council do justice to the ratepayers in this matter.—l am, &c, A Friend to the Public.
