Monday, July 27. (Before his Honor Mr Justice Williams.).

Public Examinations,

The following cases were ordered to stand over, till next sittings in Bankruptcy:—David Proudfoot, Richard Brooks Pearson, William Nevill. ■ • Bankruptcies Closed. ; ■. Simon Phillips, Alexander M'Vean, Thomas Dryderi, William Heap Horsburgh. HE CORNELIUS JOHNS. Mr Catomore obtained an order for payment of costs.. - RE KOKEIIT MACINTOSH MEFFEX. Mr Stamper appeared for the bankrupt, who was examined by the Official Assignee. The' Assignee said he thought the bankrupt should be required to furnish a statement of the manner in which his losses arose. " The case was adjourned accordingly. HE CHICK YU AND AH KUM. _ Mr Thornton appeared for the bankrupts. Mr Sew Hoy was examined as supervisor of the estate. The bankrupts produced receipts showing how part of their money had been expended. . His Honor said that he did not think the bankrupts'had been guilty of fraud. When the application for discharge of the bankrupts came on, it would be necessary for them to explain the apparent deficiency of £000. Examination passed and bankruptcy closed. HE STEPHEN STAMP HUTCHISON. Mr Denniston appeared for the bankrupt, and asked for the further examination of his client to stand over until after the termination of the criminal proceedings which had been commenced against the bankrupt. Mr Kettle, for the Official Assignee, stated that the bankrupt had refused to give the Official Assignee an order to obtain certain books which were in Melbourne, and had also declined to give certain other information, His Honor said that the Assignee could obtain the information he wanted privately. If the bankrupt was recalcitrant, and had to come up before the Court in consequence he would have only himself to thank. The Assignee was entitled to all the bankrupt's property, including the books mentioned. The examination would stand over until after the criminal proceedings.
