FOOTBALL.
The football match on Saturday at Lawrence between Roxburgh and Lawrence resulted in an easy^victory for the latter by four goals and live tries (oO points) to -ml. Tlie visitors though overmatched in every department' played a plucky game to the finish. Siicll (captain), Newman, Cunningham, and others worked very hard for them but were unabU: toseoru owing to the excellent collaring of their opponents. The feature in tho play of the homo team was Ihe unselfish passing lo'ltoscow (captain), who was enabled to make some capital runs and lo do most of the scoring. Mr Hindmarsh umpired for both teams. The weather was line and the attendance was large. The match at Port Chalmers on Saturday bcthc Dunedin Second and Port Chalmers First Fifteens ended in both sides claiming tho game.. The Dunedin team call it a win for them by one try to a disputed try, and the Port team claim a win by a goal to a try. The disjmte has been referred to the Rugby Union.
