RECENT MEETINGS.

A meeting of ladies was held in the D.Y.M.O.A. Rooms on Tuesday afternoon for the purpose of forming a women's Christian temperance union for Dunedin. Mrs M. C. Laavitfc, the delegate from the American National Union, and Mra Booth attended, and about 50 other ladies were present. Mrs Leavitt, who conducted the meeting, opened it with prayer, and then read the American Constitution and explained its working. She wanted everyone to understand that none of the funds raised would go to America, but would all be needed for carrying on the work locally. The following officebearers were then elected: President, Mrs J. Fulton; vicepresidents, the wives of all the Dunedin clergy and Mrs Downie Stewart; treasurer, Mrs Boot; hon. Bbc, Mrs Thomas Dick. The subscription was fixed at 23 6d per annum for lady members, and gentlemen may become honorary members by payment of 10s per annum. The first meeting of the Union to be held on Thursday, 14th inst,, at 4 p.m., in the D.V.M.C.A. Roomß.

At the usual quarterly meeting of the Pride of Dnnedin Lodge, No. 30,1.0. G.T., held in Rattray Btreet Hall Jaßt evening, the following officers vrete installed by Bro. OConnor; W.T., Bro. Gardiner; W. 0., Bro. Low; W.M., Sis. J. Carr; W.D.M., Sis. Shearer; W.1.G., Bro. Frew; W.R.HS., Sis. M'Grogan: W.L.H.S., Sis. Anderson.
