THE REBELLION IN THE SOUDAN.
[By Elhcibiu Telegraph.—Gopybioiht,] (Reutbr'h Telegrams.) Suakin, April 8, (Received April 9, at 1 30 p.m.) Tho enemy appeared in the vicinity of the headquarters camp this morning at an early hour, and fired about 100 shots into the Briiish lines. The firo was, however, ineffectual, and no casualties occurred to the troops in camp. (Received April 9, at 3 p.m.)
The Ooldstream Guarda and the Colonial troop 3 advanced this afternoon from the zareeba, situated five miles hence, to Handoub. On arrival thoro thoy formed a fresh aareeba, and ara vow in occupation of tha position.
A few of the enemy were seen noar Handoub, but no fighting with them took plaoe.
The Scots Guards proceed to Handoub to. morrow to join the Coldstreams,
Tho Australians and the rest of the troops now here, intended for the advance iv force, will be despatched to Handoub gradually.
Reports from Handoub state that the troops havo found quantities of v/ator there, but it is brackieh aud outirely unfit for drinking.
