CAVBESHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL.

An ordiaary mettiog of the above Council was held last evening, when there wore present: the Mayor (II <R. Wilson), Cra Kutherford, Allen, Jone*, M'Laren, U'Een, Cole, Broadfoo*, Bragg, and W Wilson. CORKESrONDEXCE. Mr Wm. Lloyd wrote requesting tho Council to bring into operation sections 5 ar.d 6 of "The Impoundiug Act 1884," so that he might bo enabled to abate tho oattlo nuisance.—Letter received.. Messrs Stanford and Milno wroto re Rutherford's claim, stating that Mr itutherford was not satisfied with what the Council had done. They also renewed their demand tor damages, and offered to refer the matter to arbitration —The matter was referred to the mo:nber3 for North Ward to icport to the next meeting of tha Council, 'ilie manager ol the Cite and Suburban Tramways Company wiote stating that owing to tho Forbury road not having been properly widened, the Company were not able to work the line so aa to overtake the traffic, and he (tho manager) trusted lint the Council would Eos their way to have the work done befoie the summer was past.—Referred to the Works Committee to report to the next meeting of Council. The secretary of the Benevolent Institution wrote expressing tho regrot of tho Committee that the Council could not see their way to remit the half-rate for water, ixud asking them to rcc'or.gider their decision.- Letter received.

The Town Cloik of Auckland wrote forwarding copy of a letter which tho Auckland City Council had sent to tha Colonial Socretiry re fines under the Po'ico Offouderg Act, aud asking the Council to send one of sirnila? in.port to tint gentleman.—The clerk wa3 instructed to send a letter as requested. The Town Clerk of Sjuth Dunoiin wrote stating I that a special mcc ing of the Council would be held on Friday night to receive a deputation [rom the Council re boundary road ".—lt was resolved that as many councillor! as could atte d should wait upon the South Dunodin Counci. The Town Cleric of Dunclin wrote statioif that Monday, lflth lnßt., at 3 or 4 p m., would be a suitable tiuro for the City B.ths Committee to receive a. deputation from tho lOuncll.—Lettsr received. Mr E. Smith, church factor, wrote Btating that he had arranged with the Goveivmant for the exchange o( laid in lotion 10, block VII, Town district, and forwarded for tho approval oi ihe Council a plan of the propoecd subdivision ol that section. -The matter was referred to the Works Ccmmiiteo to repcrt at the next meeting of Council. Mo-sra R-.id and Duncans, surveyors, wrote stating that they had surveyed tho Hillside road, and forwarded the plan, together with a letter from the Chief Surveyor certifying: to Its correctness.—lt was resolv.d to give Mr Hey's trustees notice thai tho survey of the road had been cDmpleted, and that the plm could be seen at the office of the town clerk: Mr John Craii; wroie asking for the use of tho Town Hall for the Bipiist Church Sundsy-school.— The Council agreed to grant the request subject to the usual teims. KEI'OUTt!. Tl-e Worka and Baths Committee reported having considered Mr W. H. White's letter, and recommenned tho Council to grant him a right-of-way through part of eectlonfl. S)uth Kensington. The Comtnistea rofarred Messrs Cu'.ten and Hart's letter plan to tho members of South Ward, to report thereon at next nieeti'-x o! Committee. The Committeo having considered ihe desirability ot establishing a public pound at St. Clair, advised the Council not t j entertain tha idea at present. Tho Committee recommended the Council to bri"g into cpsration tectkns 6 and 0 of tho new Impcud'.ng Act. »nd to authorise Messrs Wm. Hargroavea, P. Caaaidy, and J. Clesg to impound cattle on behalf ot the Council —The report was adopted.
