ENGLISH VISITORS TO AUSTRALIA.

Mr Archibald Forbea, iv hia lettera in the Adelaide Advertiser, atatea that Mr G. A, Sala has been entirely relieved of hia journalistic dutiea and- haa gone to Brussels, where he will give his undivided attention to the preparation of hia lectures ti be delivered during hia Australian tour. He will commence in Melbourne about Eaater next. Mr Sala will make a preliminary tour through the United States, and will travel to Australia via, San Francisco. He was to leavo England at Christmas, Mr Sala is to receive £750 for 15 lectures, and his Australian campaign will be opened at the Melbourne Town Hall, a structure of tho acoustic proporties of which Mr Forbes wishes the great journalist joy. Mr R. S. Smythe, on his way back to Australia, had some negotiations with Mr Michael Davitt, with a view to arranging with that gentleman to visit Auatralia ou a lecturing tour, but Mr Davitt could not guarantee beine able to expatiate on tha wrongs of Ireland in the Colonioe, and so tbe matter endtd. Mr Forbea said that MrSmythe bus arranged for a visit to Australia by Dr J. E. Taylor, tho eminent scientist, who writes Science Notes for the Australasian. Dr Taylor will commence his lectures at Melbourne in April noxt.

Fred. Archer, the great English jockey, will visit Australia about the_ same time. If he does not linger too long iri the United Statea he should reach the Coloniea in time for Borne of the Australian Autumn meetings. Mr Forbes thinks all Australians would gather to ccc Archer ride the favourite for the Melbourne Cup, and obesrvea that he might bo persuaded to stay for that event, aa he does not intend to rido in England during the next racing 86.1.80)1.

Mr Arthur Donaldson, who was awarded the prize offered by tha Royal Colonial Institute for the best essay on Canada, ia a son of tbe Rev. Mr Donaldson, of Kapunda..
