THE ADULTERATION QUESTON.

Sir,—Charlea Wilkins, by his effusive epistle published in the columns of your paper of this day, poses himself aB a supreme judge of moral rectitude, and takes the opportuuity to let the publio know that he is a master in the art of cordial manufacture. I, for one, do not doubt Charles Wilkins' capacity, nor hia having obtained prizos for his divers compounds; and if tha public discredit his assertions, Messrs Hennossy and Co., distillers and manufacture's of brandy at Cognac, should be able to certify the Eame, as also Keast and M'Carthy, brewers, of Dunedin, should be in a position to give him a certificate of honourable mention for vinegar manufacturing. As a true Puritan, Charles Watkins considers it a cowardly action on my part to make such assertions aa contained in my letter of tba 21st inst. In self-defonco I challenge Charlea Wilkinß, or any othor man, to furnish tho public with the addresses, or to produce any commercial directory mentioning the names of the following 80-called importers: — For saraaparilla: From New York (America)—Lyddiard (successors of Lyddiard and Thousand), Dr Drummond, Dr Rolland, Dr Perry.
