ORDER OF DRUIDS.

A meeting of thoso favourable to the forma, tion of a lodge of the Ancient Order of Druids was held in the schoolhouse, Mosgiel, on Friday evening last, about 70 being present. D.P. Bro. Hutchinson, of tha Otago district, occupied the chair, acd tha following brethren from Dunedin aud subuibs were present: P.D.P. Bro. Moss; P.A. Bro. Stokes, Lodge Enterprise, also Bro. J. Jackson; P.A. Bro. G. Loerio, Royal Oak; A.D. Bro. J. Hastio and V.A, Bro. J, A.Allan, Ivanhoe; P.A, Bro. Clough, J.P.A. Bro. Nelson, V.A. Bro. Gillies, V.A, Bro, Hall, W.S. Bro. Ellis, A.D. Bro. Roberts, aud Bro. Sim, Linden Lodge. Tha District President (Bro. Hutchinson) gave an interesting address, showing the benefits to be derived by joining such an order; and waa followed by P.D.P. Bro. Moss, who read over a number of statistics, and otherwise gave a full explauatiou of the working of the Order and its advantages. At the close of tho addresß Bro. Jonos took down the nainea of persona desirous of joining. Nineteen came forward and put down their names, aud it is expected tha; this numbor will be considerably augmented during tha week. The following gentlemen were elected a committee to take the necessary initial steps: Mr D. Vaninni, chairman ; Mr W. A. M'Leod, secretary pro tcm, ; and Messrs J. C. Smith, R. Christie, V. Jones, J. Hislop, G. Murdoch, J. Turnbull, jun., Dr Peters, and R. Shanks. A hearty vote of thanka was accorded to tho chairman and brethren for their attendance. The meeting thon adjourned, the Dunedin brethren proceeding bomo by tbe 10.20 train.
