TUAPEKA RACES. [By Telkqbiph.] (from ouk 9wn correspondent.) Second Day.
Lawbence, January 23,
The second day's racing under the auspices of tho Tuapeka County Jockey Club passed off very successfully. The fields, although not so large as on the preceding day, were nevertheless very good. All the races were again very closely contested, and the meeting must be pronounced an unqualified success, both as re gards fair running and the numbar of entries. The attendance of the public was very fair on the second day, there being ab.-ut 2500 people on the ground. The amount passed through tho totalisator on the first day was £1079, and on the second £1311.

HURDLE RACE, Of 25 boys. Milo heats.
Mr J Steele's Garibaldi, 6 yrs, Bst 101b (T Cotton) 1 Mr Arthur Smith's Gang Awa', ago. Ost 121b .. 2 Ur J Poolo's rSothwcll (late Scotch Jock) agod, 9st 41b .. .. .. .. .. 3 Mr J. Johnson's Tui (7st Gib), Mr P. Dwyer's Edelweiss (7st 51b), and Mr J. Henderson's Ada (7st) also ran. Trapper (list) was scratched. Garibaldi won both heats iv grand style, taking the lead and never being headed. FARUSUS' HANDICAP, Of 15 soys. Distance, one mile and a-quartcr. Mr Bower's Rimbler. aged, 6st 41b .. (Dyer) 1 Mr Welch's Shtmrock, 4 yrs, 8-t 6ib \. ..2 Mr Pace}'s Kuriwao, agon, 7st 81b .. ..3 Merrybird (7st), Beatrice (7st), and Ladybird (fist 41b) also ran. Shamrock made the running, but was defeated in the straight by Rambler, who won by a length. JOCKEY CLUB HANDICAP, Of 60 soys. -Distance, two miles. Mr H Goodman's br h Bavb, 8 yis, 8.-t 21b (Sharp) 1 Mr D H Morvyu's blk g Blackboy, 6 yrs, 7st 21b (Taggart) 2 Mr .J Draper's b Ii Sir Audley, 6 vr?, Gst 4_b ..3 Mr Cogan's Young Barwm._ (S ■ 7'b), and Mr Cotton's Trapper (fist 12lb) nx ~. This was a really good race. Bai ben' nn the running, attended by Young Barwou •. in Blackboy, and was never headed, winning by a length. Time, 3 mm. 45 sec. LADIES' PURSE, Of 10 soys Gontlemen i idcra only. Welter weights. Distance, one mile and a-half. Mr Pacey'a Kuriwao, agod.-Ost 41b .. (F Dawson) 1 Mr Sandersni's Darkio, agod, Ost .. (Rutlcdge) 2 Mr Welch's Shamrock, 4 yrs, list .. ..3 Highlander and Rambler also started. Rambler oolted off tha course after going threequarters of a mile, Kuriwao had the race in his own hands, and waa never called upon to extend himself. PUBLICANS' HANDICAP, Ol 25 Suva Distance, ono milo. Mr J Stephenson's br m Ouida, 5 yrs, Bst (Boyle) 1 Mr H Goodman's b g Yankee, aged, 7st 81b (3hf.ipe) 3 Mr J E Konnedy'a m g Foul Play (lato Coburg), 8 yrs .. .. .. .- (Owner) 3 Mr J. Steele's Garibaldi (Bst 71b) and Mr John Bower'B Rambler (6st 101b) aleo ran. Foul Play made the running for about threequarters of a mile, whon he had to give way to
Ouida and Yankee. Ouida was too fleet for her company, aud came in an easy winner by two lengths. Time, 1 mm, 48J seo.

Gisbobne, January 23. . Tho Turf Ciub has disqualified Weston (the jockey) and Malone (the owner) for ever for pulliiw a horae in the Hack Race. The sum of £822 was paid in stakes, of which Mr DeniU took £355.
