Townsend (Christchnrch) have passed. Of 39 New Zealand law students, Mr J. K. Thornton (Daaedin) passed as barrister, and the following »re favourably reported on for the position of solicitors : —Messrs T. D. Harman, T. Russell, R. S. Florence, W. Hoban, J. Pottß, Chrißtchurch : J. Thompson, Wellington ; J. Mouat, J. Cresswell, C. C. Ward, E Chrisp, V. G. Day, Gisborne; R. W. Kingdon, K. Wynn-Williams, T. H. Steadman, Auckland; W. Rigby, F. H. Cooke, J. Baume, J. North, A. Jamea, W. A. Coatos, and H. A. Stratford, Dunedin. The Canterbury Law Society's gold medal was not awarded. The certificate of merit wa3 awarded to E. E. Chrisp, Gisborne.
